Action-Packed Episodes To Debut Weekly Beginning In October San Francisco, CA, September 10, 2009 – In a landmark agreement, VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced that its animated series NARUTO Shippuden has been acquired by Disney-ABC Cable Networks Group for debut on Disney XD (www.DisneyXD.com) television channel beginning in October. Disney XD is a new basic cable channel and multi-platform brand that showcases a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. New dubbed episodes of NARUTO Shippuden will premiere on the network. In the NARUTO manga and animated series, Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja in training, wants to be the best ninja in the land. He's done well so far, but Naruto knows he must train harder than ever and leaves his village for intense exercises that will push him to his limits. NARUTO Shippuden begins two and a half years later, when Naruto returns to find that everyone has been promoted up the ninja ranks—except him. Sakura is a medic ninja, Gaara has advanced to Kazekage, and Kakashi… well, he remains the same. But pride isn’t necessarily becoming of a ninja, and Naruto quickly regains his focus when he learns that Sasuke never returned from his search for Orochimaru and that the mysterious Akatsuki organization is still an ever-present danger. I understand that yes many people want to see Naruto Shippuden aired, and like any other when they heard about the air date they were thrilled, but I really don't see the point of making it go to Disney XD. Although it will be the first dubbed version of the show, and I'm sure getting a bigger fan base was part of the inital idea when they signed with Disney, but it doesn't seem right when you think about it. First off, by getting the original content edited, this angers many true Naruto fan that have already been watching the subbed verions and know the kind of language and violence it brings. Secondly, how it may be true that getting it on Disney will attract a younger audience to watch the show, it might in fact repel the older and more seasoned tuners because of the drastic editing Disney will have to do, making it less appealing to those already familiar with the series. Third on the list, Naruto is definately not for a young audience to start with... especially with the message it sends, even with editing down to the molecule of the show, it still needs to have conflict to be what Naruto is... and this is what bothers me the most, if the audience for that specific channel (as young as 6 years old) watches this, there will be fighting, and how they MAY remove blood, there will still be punching; kicking, stabing, and cutting, I do not see how they can possibly edit every 3 seconds of a fight. Four, I have nothing against Disney, but the fact that they were the first network to get Shippuden perplexes me, I can not even begin to understand how they ended up licensing Naruto. On a final note, I do not mind having Naruto on Disney, because i would never watch it, since what it is has been gutted, but I simply hope that VIZ chooses to put the Naruto Shippuden series on another Network that is more flexible on the word choices, body language and the style all the characters bring. Let’s not fault viz media they are, after all, giving you the opportunity to watch the original Naruto on their website. But I do have to admit that showing it on Disney XD is a really bad choice of networks. They will do some extreme censoring, cartoon network only made slight changes to the series, but since Disney shows mostly to children they'll be extremely picky. And why this network, which let’s face it not all of us have. Wouldn't this mean that Naruto will receive fewer viewers? In the past Disney had made Gargoyles, a much darker show than normal Disney chartoons. While it was on Fox it was not edited to the knowlege of the fans but the moment it was shown on Disney Channel and XD (then still Toon Disney) the episodes had many fight scenes edited out so you were confused by why somebody was on the ground knocked out or rubbing their chin. Naruto will not be shown properly on Disney as long as they think of it as a cartoon rather than the anime it is. Disney XD is for 3-6 year olds, and naruto shippuden is fro 14+. This is outragious. Disney XD is going to censor all the blood and cursing and violence. Well where to start? Disney XD? Really? Naruto Shippuuden is considered a Teen show. Eventhough it also attracts a younger audience, it's still a teen show. Even since the beggining, Naruto should have been aired on Adult Swim or SciFi Channel. It just has too many mature jokes and scenes to be aired in a network such as Disney XD. If they do go on ahead and air it in DXD they're gonna have to edit the heck out of it. Since Naruto is now 15-16 he has a more mature vocabulary and thoughts. And that shouldnt be edited or else it will make the anime dull and boring for older viewers who I think they should focus on. I don't think it will be as bad as what people are saying because Cartoon Network was for like 6-14 and they did pretty good. I don't need swearing, but Naruto is for older audiences, so it should have all the violence left in and occasional mild swearing like in the dvds. Really though, I suppose there is no better channel for it. Adult Swim fits pretty good, but it wouldn't get many views since Adult Swim is only on in the middle of the night on Cartoon Network. I can understand VIZ trying to capture the attention of kids but Shippuuden is a bit mature for them case in point the Hidan and Kakuzu arc. that being said I'll still watch it because its Naruto but I have a strong feeling it might turn into the 4Kids version of One Piece. Either way this move to Disney XD is just baffiling why not show re runs of Naruto instead. To that I say, there are going to a lot of little boys going to bed with nightmares these next couple of years. Even if CN is sucking c***, I say Shippuden best belongs on Adult Swim. Disney XD will get a huge spike in ratings for the time slot they put Naruto in, but right after, the ratings will take drastic noes dives.
