1. ELIGIBILITY: Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are age 18 or older and located in the U.S. or District of Columbia at the time of entry. Employees, directors and officers of VIZ Media, LLC ("Sponsors"), and the advertising, fulfillment, judging and promotion agencies involved in the administration, development, promotion and execution of this Sweepstakes (collectively, "Sweepstakes Parties"), and their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling and spouse of each) and those living in the same households of each are not eligible. You have not yet won.
2. TO ENTER: Beginning on 8/2/07, go to naruto.viz.com/missiontojoin and complete the official entry form. Follow on-screen directions to properly enter, and submit your entry electronically by 11:59:59 p.m. P.T. on 11/02/07. In order for entry to be valid, entrants must complete all required information and click on the "I accept" button on the web site. All online entries must be received no later than 11:59:59 p.m. P.T. on 11/02/07. You may also enter by sending a postcard with your name, address, city, state, zip, phone number and date of birth to VIZ Media LLC, Attn: "MISSION: Join Naruto and Squad 7 at SDCC '08!" Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 77010 San Francisco, CA 94107 postmarked no later than 11/02/07 and received no later than 11/04/07. You may also enter on-site at the VIZ Media booth at the 2007 Comic Con International Convention in San Diego, California from July 25 to July 29, 2007. To enter, fill out an official entry form with all information requested and deposit it in the box provided by the close of the 2007 Comic Con convention. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON, HOUSEHOLD, AND/OR E-MAIL ADDRESS REGARDLESS OF METHOD OF ENTRY. MULTIPLE ENTRIES DISCOVERED WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Sponsors and Sweepstakes Parties assume no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, stolen, mutilated, illegible, undelivered, garbled, damaged, incomplete entries, postage due mail or submissions, or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur. All online entrants must have a valid email address. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet Access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. All entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be returned to entrant. Automated entries (including but not limited to entries made using any script, macro, bot, or sweepstakes service) and facsimiles are not allowed. Potential winner, if entered online, may be requested to provide Sponsors with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
3. WINNER SELECTION: Winner will be selected in a random drawing to take place in San Francisco, California on or about 11/05/07 by VIZ Media, LLC, whose decisions are final and binding on all matters related to the sweepstakes. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Sponsor will attempt to notify Winner by certified postal mail or e-mail. If a potential prize winner cannot be reached after reasonable effort has been exerted by Sponsor, if potential winner fails to respond to any attempted notification within fourteen (14) calendar days, if he/she is found to be ineligible, or if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, such potential prize winner may be disqualified and an alternate may be designated in his or her place. Winner shall be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit/Declaration of Eligibility/Liability Release, and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within fourteen (14) calendar days of attempted notification or prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. No more than the number of advertised prizes will be awarded.
4. PRIZES: ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: A 5-day/4-night trip for two (2) to the Comic Con convention in San Diego, California on dates during the permitted travel period of July 24, 2008 to July 28, 2008 (subject to blackout dates as set forth below) as proposed by winner to VIZ Media, LLC no later than December 15, 2007, which date shall be subject to approval by Sponsors. Winner and up to one guest will each receive a round-trip plane ticket (coach airfare), to/from San Diego, California from/to the airport closest to winner's residence and stay at a Sponsors' designated hotel (double occupancy). Round trip travel must be completed by 7/29/08. Winner and up to one guest will also each receive a non-transferable four-day pass to the Comic Con convention to be held in San Diego, California from July 24, 2008 to July 28, 2008. Approximate retail value ("ARV"): $3,000. ARV depends upon winner's method of travel, point of travel origin and hotel, and airfare fluctuations at the time of taking the trip. Selection of the airline, train and hotel is solely within Sponsors' discretion. All other expenses (including without limitation transportation to and from stations of departure/arrival and meals) not specifically mentioned herein are solely the winner's responsibility. All travel subject to availability and restrictions. Winner and travel guests must travel on same itinerary. A minor may accompany winner as a travel guest only if the winner is the minor's parent or legal guardian and is legally authorized to travel with the minor. Minor's parent or legal guardian must accompany at minors all times during trip (including, but not limited to, in-flight or on the train, hotel stay and all prize-related events). Travel companions will be required to sign and return a liability release before any ticketing of travel occurs. It is the responsibility of the winner and his or her companion(s) to comply with all travel, security and other laws, regulations, airline passenger, hotel and other rules that may apply to them. Winner forfeits prize if Winner and companion(s) cannot obtain required travel documents in time for their trip. No substitution, cash redemption or transfer of prize is permitted except at Sponsors' sole discretion. If prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Any portion of the prize not accepted by Winner, or which does not occur for any reason, shall be forfeited.
5. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Prize will be awarded only to an address within the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Winner and travel companion(s) are solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on any prize. If prize is $600 or more, Winner will receive an IRS Form 1099 for the approximate retail value of the prize. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and to the Sponsors' decisions, which are final and binding in all respects. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes, Sponsors and Sweepstakes Parties reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who is responsible or who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes and select the Winner in a random drawing from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation or termination. All entries are the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void in Puerto Rico, U.S. possessions and territories and where prohibited by law.
6. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: By accepting the prize, Winner agrees that the Sponsors and Sweepstakes Parties, and all of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parents, officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by Winner against, any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the sweepstakes; from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize; or from participation in any prize-related activity or any travel related thereto. Except where prohibited by law, Winner grants (and agree to confirm this grant in writing, if requested) permission for Sponsors and Sweepstakes Parties and those acting under its authority to use his/her name, photograph, voice and/or likeness, for advertising and/or publicity purposes in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented without territorial or time limitations and without additional compensation.
7. DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of California; (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant's rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor and Sweepstakes Parties in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than State of California.
